David Straz Announces Candidacy for Mayor of Tampa
Because I love Tampa, I will be a candidate for Mayor of the City of Tampa.
I have lived the American dream and it started with a broom in my hand.
I have experienced great success in business and, as a result, I have been able to be significantly involved in the business and cultural life of the city. Now, I am called to provide leadership and vision for the future.
Mayor Bob Buckhorn is my friend and we all owe him a debt of gratitude for the job he has done. The seeds of my candidacy were actually planted almost eight years ago when I supported him and worked for him as chairman of his transition committee.
As mayor, I will: Manage the Budget without Higher Taxes, Grow the Economy by creating jobs and Create a Blueprint for Tampa’s Future.
First and foremost, I will focus on effective management of the city and its billion-dollar budget, without higher taxes.
I will focus on creating jobs in Tampa. That means growing existing small businesses, working with others to recruit Fortune 500 companies and attract high paying jobs to Tampa.
I also believe we need a Blueprint for the future of Tampa. During my campaign, I will be asking people to share their ideas with me as I develop this plan for the future. I believe this blueprint must include protecting and improving the quality of life in every neighborhood, a focus on public safety and protecting our environment.
As we go forward, I intend to listen, learn and study as I develop a common-sense blueprint for Tampa’s future … a blueprint that reflects the hopes and dreams of the people of Tampa.
We have launched a website today at www.DavidStrazForMayor.com . On that website, I invite people to join my campaign and to send me specific ideas on what they would like to see me focus on as mayor. Citizens will also find more information about my background on the website. You can also connect with the campaign on Facebook and Twitter.
